Hello all

just upgraded to 1.4.3 and then I have a error 500 when trying to access the admin panel

My error log contains a lot of .htaccess error :

Invalid command 'IndexIgnore', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration, referer: http://www.annesofilms.com/zenphoto/zp-core/setup.php?autorun=admin

what should I do ?

Your link is not usable for us. Please post the exact error message from your error log. Also delete your old htaccess file.

OK

1) I have deleted the .htaccess

2) I have started the upgrade process

3) at a certain time, the upgrade process asks me to recreate the .htaccess file, I say yes

4) I then have the same 500 error

apache log : (it seems to create a tést.jpg file which I had deleted, but is recreated again... the e with an accent seems to be one of the problem)

The file should not be a problem. However, I suspect that there are errors happening somewhere. The log you show seems only to contain the HTTP access records. Please see if there is a PHP log somewhere that will have the real data we need.

You can also try running setup directly: `http://www.annesofilms.com/zenphoto/zp-core/setup.php` to avoid any issues that the auto run might be masking.

Strangely, I'm getting 500 error as well. Error log shows "[Wed Jul 04 22:37:44 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 31 seconds" over and over pointing to setup.php

However, all my php.ini settings are at 360 seconds for timeouts...

Repeatedly, though it changes if I start the setup script over again, but still ends up pointing at setup.php just different steps of it.

Apparently the control panel I use (VirtualMin) had a setting in the control panel that limited execution time not taking into account the php.ini settings.

So I have deleted the .htaccess file as acrylian suggested, and rerun the process, but the bug happened again...

Tht statement is included in the standard .htaccess file, so if it is causing problems you will have to manually delete it.

A quick WEB search did find this comment:
"You need to check whether your httpd.conf file allows overrides of directory permissions. Look for lines containing 'AllowOverride All' or 'AllowOverride None'. Mine is setup with All on the html directories, 'None' on the icon directory and 'AuthConfig' on the cgi-bins. Which I think is a standard sort of setup." perhaps that will help.

But as I just told in my previous post, **I have deleted the .htaccess file** ; the consequence was that the upgrade process went further, but at a certain time recreated a .htaccess file, and bing, the 500 issue...

Are you sure that your server supporst modrwrite? If you enable the modrewrite option of Zenphoto and your server doesn't this could be a reason for this error (no other idea sadly).

Deleting the file is not the solution I suggested. Deleting the 'IndexIgnore' line is what is needed since your server apparently objects to it.

Deleting the file will just allow setup to re-create it.

I commented this line, and it works now.

Now, IndexIgnore requires the mod_autoindex to be on, which is not a usually widely used extention. It was off, then producing this error.

So I suggest you make a test on this mode when generating the .htaccess file, in order to prevent an unnecessary 500 error..

Thnaks for the info. We will add a test. But maybe the module is used more than you think. Yours is the first such report of the problem. WAMP and MAMP seem configured with the module as is both my host and acrylian's

Upgrading from 1.4.2.4 to 1.4.3.2 I had also this 500 error.

Editing my vhost config, `AllowOverride FileInfo` to `AllowOverride All` solved my problem.
